WEST ONEONTA — Marian M. Whitmore, 80 years old, ofWest Oneonta, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2003, at the A.O. FoxMemorial Hospital, Oneonta.
She was born May 4, 1923, in Delhi, the daughter of Johnand Mary Webster.She married LeRoy E. Whitmore Sr., on Sept. 17, 1946, inOneonta. Together they shared 50 years of marriage untilLeRoy predeceased her on Nov. 24, 1996.
A lifelong area resident, Marian worked at several areabusiness's including the Oneonta Hotel, the DukeRestaurant, the Oneonta Country Club and State UniversityCollege at Oneonta as a cook.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and playing the harmonica,but most of all she loved spending quality time and caringfor her family. She will be deeply missed.She is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law,LeRoy E. and Mary Whitmore Jr., of Bainbridge, StanleyWhitmore of Otego, and Richard and Maryann Whitmore ofUnadilla; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; onesister, Anna Mae Young of Oneonta; as well as severalnieces and nephews.
Marian was predeceased by one sister, Lou Lillie; and twobrothers, Cleveland Grant and John Watson.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003,at 1 p.m. at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St.,Oneonta, with the Rev. Judith A. Thistle, Chaplain at A.O.Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta, officiating. Burial willfollow in the Cook Cemetery, West Oneonta.Calling hours will be offered on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003,at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. at which time thefamily will be in attendance.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made toeither the American Cancer Society, 31 Adams Ave.,Endicott, NY 13760 or to Catskill Area Hospice, 542 MainSt., Oneonta, NY 13820 in loving memory of Marian M.Whitmore. [1]
