88 years young, Robert H. Moore lived a life of honor,integrity and faith for the last 88 years. He honored ourcountry, his family, his friends, the town he called homefor 55 years, Jackson, Michigan but, most of all, hehonored God. Bob, as he was known to his family andfriends, was born in Portland, Maine to Elizabeth and JohnMoore on October 13, 1929 and spent his secondary schoolyears in Redondo Beach, California. His parents instilledthe strong values that carried him throughout his life ashe attended Dartmouth University, receiving a masters inbusiness from Tuck Business School, and continued as hestarted his professional career in financial management inNew York City. After getting married in 1952 to Anne PlattMoore in New England, his talents soon brought him toMichigan in 1957 when he was offered an executive positionin Grand Rapids. Moving up the corporate ladder brought himto his final home destination, Jackson, Michigan in 1963.There he worked as the CFO at Ryerson & Haynes and theHancock Companies. After a brief international executiveposition in Toronto, Canada he returned back to his Jacksonroots and bought Taylor Equipment & Party Rental which heowned until he retired in 1998. Bob lost his wife of nearly50 years to cancer in 2002.
Bob was committed to the community and served as theChairman of the Hancock Foundation for decades which wasresponsible for donating money to those in special needover that time. He served on the Board of the InterfaithShelter, past President of the noon Rotary Club of Jacksonwhere he received the high honor of a Paul Harris Award.Bob served faithfully in his church and countless otherorganizations in the community as he enjoyed the JacksonSymphony, golf, ballroom dancing, cruising, internationaltravel, MSU college football, music and bowling.Although he passed on to meet the Lord on Monday, August6th, any one that knew the kindness in his heart knows hewas met in heaven with the trumpets roaring. His faith wasthe root of his soul. We can only imagine what it would belike for him – would he dance, or would he drop to hisknees when the light of God graced his new face? Heexperienced a stroke on July 29th and received exceptionalcare at the University of Michigan neurosurgical team untilthe time of his passing.
He will remain loved by his faithful wife of 15 years,Cherie Moore, daughters Anne M. Keller (with Bernie Baake)of Rougemont, NC and Robyn M. Jacobson, son-in-law EdwardJacobson, Grandson Robert MacCready of Houston, Texas,step-daughter Lisa Howe-Wright and her husband StevenWright, along with her two children, Audrey and DiegoFebres-Cordero of Jackson, Michigan, and a large extendedfamily in Jackson, Florida and Texas.
According to his wishes cremation has taken place. A timeof gathering will be held on Friday, August 10th from 5:00until 7:00pm at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, 211Harmon Avenue, Concord, Michigan. A Mass of ChristianBurial will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. Timothy D. Krzyzaniakat the same church on Saturday, August 11th at 11:00 am.Family and friends may gather in fellowship at 10:00 ambefore the Mass on Saturday. Celebration of Life plans willbe announced at the church after the service. Donationswould be graciously accepted at the Michigan Gift of LifeFoundation, giftoflifefoundationmi.org. [1]
