Noah's will (attached) lists his three youngest childrenDanford, Joseph, and Charles first (to receive equalportions of his estate if his wife died or remarried). Theother children (each received $1) were all listed inchronological order, according to their dates of birth. This would place her year of birth sometime after Horace's(1813) but before Danford (1820). This is also consistentwith the 1820 Census listing for Noah, which lists onefemale under 10 in the household, who would have to beHannah. So her mother would have to be Noah's first wife,Lusanna / Lucy Anna Haskins.

Notes |
- Note to Cecil Sprague from Richard E. Weber, SpragueProject Developer
This one introduces a bit of uncertainty. Lucy Ann Spragueis indicated in your note as the wife of Noah. However, this doesn't match what I already have recorded. Noah islisted as married to Susanna and to Jane. Is Lucy Ann oneof these two individuals or is the current recordincomplete.
Another issue comes from Noah's age which gives him a birthof approximately June 1775. This is a variation of severalyears from the birth year currently recorded. Can you addand clarifications to these two matters?
Cecil's response:
I don't have any substantive proof, however based on howmany Noah Sprague's that were living in the area at thattime, it seems highly probably that these two are the same. Many grave markers have been known to have errors (or thebirth day you have could be in error also), and It isalways possible that he had an additional unknown wife. The fact that Hiram Sprague is buried there also and NoahSprague had a Hiram Sprague seems likely it is the samefamily.

I've attached scans on some interesting legal documents Iobtained from the online Boston College archives on NoahSprague(http://dcollections.bc.edu/R/?func=dbin-jump-full&object_id=449564&local_base=GEN01): a summons for nonpayment of a $5debt to a Mr. Robert Robinson, as well as the originalunpaid promissory note. These documents are from 1808,when Noah (son of Asher Sprague) would have been about 33years old. At the time, Jefferson County (now in Maine)was still part of Massachusetts (before the MissouriCompromise of 1820). If you look at the promissory note, you'll notice how tremulous his handwriting was for arelatively young man. Not sure I can read too much intothis, but I have discovered that he had considerablefinancial and legal difficulties throughout this life. Ihave a few other court records from Maine that I'll sendyou - Noah's own physician, Isaac Flitner, actually suedhis estate for nonpayment of services when he tended to himon death bed.
NOTE: The above mention attachements are included in thepicture section as 43664a, b, c, & d.

In this summons, Noah Sprague, a "housewright aliashusbandman," is brought before the courts to answer chargesto the plaintiff, Robert Robinson, "a yeoman aliasesquire." Interesting to note that both parties have dualoccupations. This document also comes with a neat littleinsert.

I do have a VERY strong suspicion that this William Sprague(I318347), along with Isaac (I315047), were the sons ofNoah Sprague (I43664). Isaac and William are actuallylisted on the same page in the 1840 Census for Washington,Lincoln County, Maine. I have quite a bit ofcircumstantial evidence to support this notion, and I thinkmost professional genealogists would claim this to be a'calculated relationship'. I am hesitant to make thisleap, however, since I've confirmed that this area of Mainewas populated by descendants of both William Sprague(1609-1675) and Francis Sprague (1590-1676), two differentlines.
