Dorothy R. Foertsch, 87, of New Paltz, passed away Monday,January 4, 2021 at HealthAlliance Hospital, Kingston, NY.
Born July 17, 1933 in Tuthilltown (Gardiner) NY, she wasthe daughter of the late Tremper and Gertrude (Gathen)Sprague. Dorothy (Dottie) was raised in Clintondale, NY andmarried Joseph Foertsch at the Clintondale Methodist ChurchJuly 22, 1951. They had nearly 70 years together beforeJoe's passing in February, 2020.
Dottie and Joe lived and raised their children inClintondale, NY until they both retired to South Carolinain the late 1980's. In May, 2018, they moved back to NYS tobe with family. Dottie had been a long-time employee ofWestern Publishing in Poughkeepsie, NY as a book binderuntil Western closed. She then worked as a seamstress atCountess Mara Tie Manufacturer in Highland until retirement.
Throughout the years, Dottie enjoyed camping with familyand friends, sewing and crafting, playing Bingo, wordpuzzles and reading books, and especially loved and enjoyedher grandchildren as much as she could get them.
Survivors include her three sons, Stephen J. Foertsch(wife, Mary Lou) of New Paltz, NY, Jeffrey Foertsch (wife,Beth) of Stone Ridge, NY, and Timothy Foertsch (wife,Gretchen) of Wilmington, NC, as well as six grandchildren:Michael Foertsch, Stephen Foertsch, Jessica Foertsch, RyanFoertsch, Rebecca Foertsch and Matthew Foertsch, as well asgreat-granddaughter, Alexa Brummett, along with numerousnieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Dottie was the last surviving of her Sprague siblings, allhaving predeceased her: Lillian Rhoades, Tremper Sprague,Mary Todd, Ronald Sprague, and most recently passed, EvelynByrne.
