  	Description: Newburyport Herald (Massachusetts) 26 Dec 1817page 3 Died - In Dublin, N.H. on the 16 inst. Rev. Edward Sprague,in the 68 year of his age, and 41st of his ministry. Hisdeath was occassioned by an accident which befel him theweek before.

Pastor of the Congo. church at Dublin, NH., 1777-78; Hegraduated from Harvard College in 1870 (Note: this must bean error, probably 1780), was ordained 2nd minister of thechurch in Dublin, NH, May 12, 1801, his father having d. 3or 4 years before, he received his legacy and thereuponrelinquished his salary from this date. His residence wason lots 9 and 10, range V near the centre pond; after 1801he had a residence in Keene, but kept his Dublin house openand furnished for his occasional use while his wifecontinued to live in the Keene home. Dec. 9, 1817, he metwith an accident which resulted in his death. Dec. 13 hemade his will, a copy of which wand a probate record iskept in the Town History. He was wealthy; drove his coachwith 4 horses, gave the town $5,000 for support of thereligion in the Congo. Society, and gave his physician andfriend Dr. Moses Kidder $2,000. To John Twitchell andAlline Newhall each, provided they stay in his serviceduring his natural life $300. To the town for support ofpublic schools $10,000, and the residue to the town for theuse of school purposes. His portrait is on page 162 of theTown History and much is said therein in various places ifincidents and anecdote, obituary and eulogistic, as alsothe long grave stone inscription of himself and Hannah hiswife. No mention is made of any children. The will wasdated Dec. 13, 1817. It was probated Feb. 3, 1818, ElijahParker of Keene Exr. Account allowed Feb. 1823. Inventoryin 1818 was 430,060.39. [1]
