Buried in a Well.
James Sprague, of Milton was yesterday recurbing a well forWilliam H. Burrows, of Afton. He commenced his work at thebottom of the well which is fifty feet deep, and hadfinished the curbing upward twenty-five feet when the upperpart of the well fell in closing the excavation. The wellis situated near the railroad track and as a train waspassing at the time of the accident it is supposed by theassistants who were working the windlass that the jarringof the ground caused by the motion of the train was theimmediate cause of the accident. The accident occurredyesterday afternoon and the fate of Mr. Sprague is yetunknown, as the well has not been re-opened.

The Body of James Sprague Recovered.
After fifty hours of incessant labor, the body of JamesSprague, who was buried in a well at Afton on Friday, wasrecovered at half past eight o'clock last night. Theindications are that the unfortunate victim of thisaccident, was instantaneously suffocated, as he was foundfifteen feet from the bottom completely embedded in theflac? gravel through which the well was sunk, with noscratch or bruise upon his person. He was standingperfectly erect when found and had in his hand the hatchetwith which he was working when the earth caved in upon him. John Doyle and Daniel Fasker, of Beloit, two experiencedwell diggers, performed the dangerous task of recoveringthe body, assisted by the people of Afton, who did all intheir power to expedite the search. Mr. Sprague, as westated on Saturday, was a resident of Milton, where he hasa father and brothers living. He was forty-five years ofage and leaves a family of two children. [3, 4]
