From Kathleen Mikaelian, correspondent, note of 11/11/2020
There is a Jonathan Hall who served in RI's SecondRegiment in the Revolutionary War. Our Jonathan would havebeen the right age to serve and from the western part of RIwhere that regiment was raised.
That Regiment was originally raised by Daniel Hitchcock, b1739 to Ebenezer Hitchcock of Springfield. Daniel moved toProvidence in 1771 to work as an attorney (was suspected inthe Gaspee Affair of 1772). I wonder if there's aconnection between Daniel and Obed Hitchcock and JonathanHall that led Jonathan to western MA after the War. Diademamarried Obed after Jonathan's death and Obed's brotherJesse was married to Diadema's sister, so clearly there wasa connection between the Hitchcock and Walker families. Idon't know yet if Daniel Hitchcock and Obed and Jesse wererelated but it seems quite possible. [2]
