Obituaries:
SPRAGUE, Gordon Robert - 69, Halifax, passed away at home,December 25, 2001. Born in Port Elgin, N.B., he was a sonof the late Earl and Ruby (Seaman) Sprague. He served inthe RCAF from 1951-1965, later going on to become owner andoperator of his own steel reinforcement company. He thensold his business and became long-time and well respectedtaxi driver for over 20 years.
Gordon received a letter of commendation from the HalifaxRegional Police Department for saving a woman's life andwas a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 81, CapeTormentine, N.B. He was known to love gardening, carpentry,working on automobiles and for his generous nature to allwho met him.
He is survived by his loving long-time companion, EvelynTrenholm, Halifax;son, Gordon (Susan) Sprague, Burnaby, B.C.; daughters,Wendy (Carson) Boutilier, Cape Tormentine, N.B.; Carolyn(Leigh) Stright, Little Shemogue, N.B.; Crystal (James)DeGroot, Victoria, B.C.; brother, Jack, Windsor, Ont.;sister, Donna (Ignatius) Landry, Fall River; wife, Alice(Winters) Sprague, Cape Tormentine, N.B.; eightgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many nieces andnephews. Cremation has taken place. No visitation byrequest.
Memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, December 29,in J. Albert Walker Funeral Home Chapel, 149 Herring CoveRd., Halifax.
A legion service will be held at a later date.
Burial at a later date in Fernwood Cemetery, Port Elgin,N.B.
Donations to Canadian Cancer Society.
