Mrs. May Spragg - ObituaryNews of the Passing of Mrs. May Spragg the evening of March19th came as a shock to the people of Hazleton andvicinity. She has been making her home for the last yearwith her daughters Susan Stout and Alice Feller ofWaterloo. Her death was due to a stroke. Ada May Voorheeswas the daughter of Cyrus and Susan Voorhees as was bornnear Hazleton, May 15 1857. She was married January 1,1877. To George E. Spragg who preceded her in death 29years. To this union were born four sons and threedaughters. For years Mrs. Spragg has been a member of theMethodist church of Hazleton and it would be hard to find awoman held in higher esteem or better loved by her old timeneighbors than she, and to her family she has been anespecially kind and loving mother. She leaves to mourn herdeparture her children, Paul, Harvey, and Hilliard ofHazleton, George Eldon, of Waterloo; Mrs. Jessie Crain, ofMansfield Missouri, Mrs. Susan Stout and Mrs. Alice Fellerof Waterloo; twenty grandchildren and fourgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Viola Pettis ofOelwein, Mrs. Amelia Goddard of California and one brother,frank Voorhees of Cleveland Ohio. Rev. T. J. Elwick ofStrawberry Point, a former pastor of the deceased conductedthe funeral services from the Methodist church in HazletonSaturday afternoon at 2:00, assisted by Rev. W. H. Smith.Her remains were laid to rest by the side of her husband inHazleton cemetery.
