Henry Harrison Morriss fought for the North during theCivil War.  After the war, he married Sarah Julia, andbought a farm in Shelby County, Missouri.  In 1889 hisbrothers in Colorado persuaded him to move to Pueblo. There he ran a restaurant, collected bills, broke horsesand kept books of account.
William and his family moved back to Missouri after thedeath of his wife, Sarah.

186008 Wm. Mayher, Once Greeley Mayor, Dies
GREELEY. May 11 -- William Mayher, 80 years old, formermayor of Greeley and for nearly 40 years prominent in localbusiness activities, died at his home 814 Eleventh StreetThursday. Death -----from neuralgia of the heart.
Mr. Mayher was born in Hudson, N.Y., April 14, 1843. Hecane to Greeley in January, 1885, and engaged in the lumberbusiness, buying a yard from the late George N. Spear. Heestablished the William Mayher Lumber Company which wasactive here until recently. He was superintendent of thefirst electric light plant in Greeley. At the time of hisdeath he was president and heavy stockholder in the GreeleyIce and Storage Company. At several times, he was directorof local banking institutions. He was mayor of Greeleyduring the years 1911 and 1912.
Among the lodges of which Mr. Mayher was a member were theElks, Masons, Knight Templars and Shrine. He was a memberand past president of the Greeley club, which passed out ofexistence several years ago. He was also a member of ParkCongregational Church.Mr. Mayher is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary E. Mayher,and two grandchildren, Julia and William Stockover.
Funeral services will be held Sunday. Announcement of thehour will be made later.

Paul Sprague
Moriah, NY - Paul (Barney) Sprague, 89, of Moriah, N.Y.,died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003.
He was born Sept. 22, 1914, to Charles and Nellie (Phinney)Sprague.
Paul was an avid outdoorsman and a veteran of World War IIhaving served in the Pacific Theatre in the U.S. ArmyInfantry. He was a life member of the Veterans of ForeignWars and a member of the National Riffle Association.
Paul was a caretaker for St. Peter and Paul Cemetery inMoriah Center for many years.
Paul is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margaret Louise(Whitford) Sprague; four sons, Timothy and CatherineSprague of Port Henry, Randall and Elizabeth Sprague ofSussex, N.J., Tracy and Alberta Sprague of Mineville andHoward Sprague of Moriah; he is also survived by severalnieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents; four brothers, Leon,Lloyd, Gordon and Vernon (Peck); and four sisters, Flora,Gertrude, Marjorie and Kathleen.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003,11 a.m. at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry.
Donations may be made in Paul's memory to the Town ofMoriah Ambulance Squad.
