Mrs. May Spragg - Obituary
News of the Passing of Mrs. May Spragg the evening of March 19th came as a shock to the people of Hazleton and vicinity. She has been making her home for the last year with her daughters Susan Stout and Alice Feller of Waterloo. Her death was due to a stroke. Ada May Voorhees was the daughter of Cyrus and Susan Voorhees as was born near Hazleton, May 15 1857. She was married January 1, 1877. To George E. Spragg who preceded her in death 29 years. To this union were born four sons and three daughters. For years Mrs. Spragg has been a member of the Methodist church of Hazleton and it would be hard to find a woman held in higher esteem or better loved by her old time neighbors than she, and to her family she has been an especially kind and loving mother. She leaves to mourn her departure her children, Paul, Harvey, and Hilliard of Hazleton, George Eldon, of Waterloo; Mrs. Jessie Crain, of Mansfield Missouri, Mrs. Susan Stout and Mrs. Alice Feller of Waterloo; twenty grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Viola Pettis of Oelwein, Mrs. Amelia Goddard of California and one brother, frank Voorhees of Cleveland Ohio.
